To provide free education to underprivileged children and teens to teach them useful life skills and provide them with better opportunities, improve quality of life, and give hope for a brighter future.
In our community it is common for children and teens to quit school at a young age so they can start working to help support their families. KIDTEA is helping to break this cycle of poverty.
Unfortunately here in Cambodia, public school teachers are heavily underpaid which means the public school environment is often resentful and cold and individual care of the students is very rare. To counter this experience, KIDTEA strives to create a warm, friendly environment where each student is genuinely cared for and inspired.
At KIDTEA we enforce a strict child protection policy which ensures the safety and well-being of all of our students.
The man with the dream
Founder of the school Sophara Ngoeum, spent much of his early adult life as a practicing monk where he was given the opportunity to be educated and learnt English at Bakong Pagoda.
In his late 20's he had a dream of building a school for his community so that the underprivileged children and youth were given the opportunity to be educated in the English language as he was.
In 2013 with the financial and emotional support of his dear friends from Australia he was able to start building that dream. The KIDTEA project began in 2012 and the school was official opened in March 2013.
Mr Sophara, along with the support of advisors, partners and the his team, has worked hard to make this dream a reality and continues to better the lives of many children and youth in his village.
